Jakob Gatzka

Jakob Gatzka concentrated on film studies during his master's degree in German language and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He wrote his master thesis on Stanley Kubrick's last film EYES WIDE SHUT (1999). From 2004 to 2005 Jakob Gatzka studied at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (Munich). He was assistant to the German film and television director Dominik Graf.

Jakob Gatzka later worked for FreeX, an agency for authors and directors, and as an author for German television (SOKO Wismar, ZDF). He is currently developing several documentary and other fictional film projects, among others for the non-profit BUXUS STIFTUNG GmbH. Since 2012 J. Gatzka is intensively researching the refugee movement to Europe and is working on a documentary film about an Afghan boy and his flight to Germany.
